Beyond Electricity and Gas:21st Century at Home

As fuel and utilities increase in price, families are making changes to save on cost anywhere they can. Sometimes it is a matter of being more conservative with what we already have and other times it will be updating in a more natural way for homes everywhere. By updating a home for the future, you will prepare yourself when times change away from gas and electricity use in everyday lives.

Lights are a main source of power usage in every home. From the time we were kids we heard the words do not leave the light on. There are several ways to help eliminate the need for so much lighting. One way is with light tubes that can be installed through the ceiling to a room below. The tubes range from six inches to 12 inches across and lets light directly into a room. There is no power source. It is covered with a hard plastic to hold up to weather conditions and sealed well against cold and heat. It acts as a reflector to bring day light into a room without the need of overhead light bulbs. This is one of the best investments for the future in every home.

Fuel efficiency is going to be very important. With our current technology almost anyone can work from home on their computer. This will lessen the need for a daily commute to and from work. It still uses electricity, but in a much more limited amount. As solar technology improves, it will become the source to power our computers and homes. By making use of the sun our lives will be much more stabilized without the constant need to travel. Information for bookkeeping, meetings, writing, information and data entry are just a few of the jobs that will no longer require travel to and from an in town office.Keep looking, there’s more: Demand for fuel efficient cars rises, but not by much
